Set sail for Cap Ferret!
Numerous shuttles departing from Arcachon
Close to Arcachon and our hotel, widen your already wonderful view of the sea and discover eleven villages, each with their own character. The peninsula of Cap Ferret is a place where nature sets the tone for an unforgettable holiday! Something worth doing is heading southward towards the cape’s edge and its lighthouse. The view that blossoms before your eyes is worth the effort of climbing the 258 steps to the top. From the Cap Ferret lighthouse, you’ll have the chance to see the entire bay; whichever way you turn, you can revel in this stunning landscape that is moving in more ways than one. Modern exhibition rooms recount the history of navigation around the bay and the history of the lighthouse, complete with animated shipping maps and interactive screens.
You can also enjoy this area by bike. The numerous cycle trails cross a natural environment, with a salty sea air that will remind you of childhood holidays eating ice cream. You’ll also be drawn to the four ocean beaches. You’ll love their soft sand and their stunning vistas. One of them, the Plage de l’Horizon, is also accessible by a charming little train, which will enchant both the young and young-at-heart. As well as providing a unique view over the Île aux Oiseaux, the Pointe aux Cheveaux will also give you the opportunity to stroll around Grand Piquey and Petit Piquey, look for shade in the National Forest of Lège et Garonne. Then going north-east, towards the village of Le Four via the village of Les Jacquets, you’ll find the Golf du Cap Ferret and the Parc de loisirs du Four (Le Four Leisure Park). Don’t think it can get any better? Then head to La Pointe! The tip of the cape whose fascinating appearance changes at the whims of the wind, rain, clouds and sun. These multiple faces will make you want to discover (or rediscover) its wild nature, its “Caribbean”-like atmosphere and stunningly golden sand that resembles a work of art.
